(Recorded Poem)

The fires were just beginning to die down.
Waking from my dream, I gazed around my room
Seeing gargoyles emceed in the fabric of the tapestries,
Like when I was little during the still dark hours of the morning.
When everything looked slightly weird with menacing monsters entwined
in the curtains fringe or in the wrinkles of something hiding in the closet.
As the light slowly crept into the room the images fortunately became just wrinkles
in the clothes in the closet and not a scary form waiting for me.

But this morning, I am not little, I am almost 40.
There is nothing hiding in the fringe or the wrinkles. And I am not waking from my dreams.
I am waking from the reality of the fires that are smoldering just around the corner,
Down the street, across town, here in Los Angeles, over in Georgia, in San Francisco
And all over my country ...
It's not a dream. It's real. It's not at all what Martin Luther King had in mind.
Why couldn't his dream be real and this reality be just my bad dream ?

Kings X Time Out
What is all about ?
We had a dream, yes, an impossible dream
But how did we create such a nightmare ?

Dr.King was the positive. Rodney's now the negative.
See the two Kings ?
They kidnapped the black ones ... Beating them, kicking and screaming 200 years later.

The beating goes on publicly, televised repetitively,
Prosecuted arduously and the whole thing ends up futily.
From a feudal system to a futile system ?

Who is this they ?
Who is the dream wrecker ?
Who is the destroyer ?
Whose violence took the lives of Dr, King and Mr. X ?
Whose law and order did that ?

We wonder how we got this way?
Shooting, burning, looting and dying.
Who ever heard of a species that destroys their own homes ?
Whose law and order does that ?

Disorganized, uneducated, disenfranchised hopeless people
can't be seating 4.000 effective fires in 2 day - They must have had help.

Help from the descendants of the kidnappers
who ended their dream and brought them to this nightmare.
We're their King or pawns ?
